Elliot’s Blog is written by Elliot J. Silver, an Internet entrepreneur and professional domain investor. Elliot founded his first domain investment and monetization company, Top Notch Domains, LLC, in 2003, while in graduate school at New York University, where he earned his Masters Degree in Direct and Interactive Marketing.
Shortly after earning his degree, Elliot went to work as a Project Manager at Wunderman, one of the largest direct marketing agencies in the world. Later, he went on to become a direct marketing Program Manager at AIG, where his focus was direct mail and telemarketing campaign management.
After working in these corporate marketing jobs for a total of four years, Elliot decided the time was right for him to focus entirely on his Internet business in 2007. He tendered his resignation at AIG in November of 2007, and he became fully focused on his domain investment and Internet media business.
Top Notch Domains, LLC owns a portfolio of descriptive domain names and websites, including DogWalker.com, Torah.com, DogGroomers.com, Newburyport.com, BabyRegistries.com, Sayings.com, WorldTours.com, SHS.com, VisitSaoPaulo.com, VisitBogota.com, this blog, and many others. You can also see a selection of sales and current projects on which the company is working.
In 2008, Elliot founded Silver Internet Ventures, LLC, an Internet media company whose developed web properties include Burbank.com, Lowell.com, Dreidel.com, and TropicalBirds.com.
While studying for his Master’s Degree at NYU, Elliot learned about the high value of domain names receiving targeted type-in traffic.
“A person who types exactly what he is looking for into his browser is a more valuable prospect than a person who uses a search engine. This person knows exactly what he wants, and if the website can provide the information wanted, then he benefits, as does the owner of that site. It can be the most cost-effective way to generate targeted leads.”
In 2008, Elliot Silver was honored with a Domainers Choice Award for ElliotsBlog.com, which was voted best Domain Blog, and a Name Intelligence Award for ElliotsBlog.com for Best Domain Blog Community. In 2010, Elliot was honored with a TRAFFIC Award for Best Domain Blog, and he was nominated for two TRAFFIC Awards in 2011.
Elliot is originally from Nashua, NH, but currently makes his home on the Upper West Side of Manhattan with his wife and dog, where he is an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. He is a graduate of Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania. His mom reads his blog every day, so be nice.
