Adam Dicker’s 2013 Predictions
I posted a single prediction for the domain industry in 2013 by many people I consider domain industry experts. Several of these people were kind enough to offer additional predictions for 2013, and Adam was one of those people.
Here are Adam’s predictions for the domain industry in 2013:
1) Smart Domainers will realize it’s no longer a pissing contest of who owns the most domains, it’s about building businesses.
2) Many domainers will be looking for full time jobs because parking will continue to deteriorate to the point where you may not even be able to feed your dog let alone your family.
3) 2013 will be the year domainers drop 80% of their crap domains and upgrade their portfolios, quality over quantity will be the right target to aim for. It’s far better to own 10 fantastic domains than 10,000 pieces of crap.
4) Hopefully people learnt from .mobi, .tel .co and .xxx not to waste their money filling the pockets of the registrars while they are left with no traffic and no revenue from these pipe dreams.
5) The public will be completely confused with the launch of all the new TLD’s. They barely understand why they need a website now let’s explain to them that my new email address is adam@dogs.pets, most will still add the .com to that and go to adam@dogs.pets.com
6) 2013 will be the year lead generation overtakes parking by a mile.
7) Facebook will finally find a way to stop people from adding you to ridiculous groups without your permission like ‘Premium Domains’ and all that’s in there is smellyfeetinoregon.info for $125,000.
8.) Before the end of 2013, Elliot will announce he and his lovely wife Karen will announce another bundle of joy and more sleepless nights are on the way.

Great predictions…i guess I’m two steps ahead…I already did all this in 2011 & 2012.
2013 looks like a great year for me…i am finally completely out of domains and moved that money into Internet Sweepstakes Cafes which are like small gambling type casinos mostly in Florida.
Also invested in software companies that make these casino type games…every $100k investment is given us a monthly net profit of $10k residual income.
Domains are fun but gotta follow the big money…
Good Luck to ALL
Have A Great 2013!!!

This is hilarious, you think sweepstakes cafes are going to be around in a year, smart move… they are already passing laws to shut them down.
Buying CloudApp.com for 24K, and IndianJewelry for $16 and basically selling them for 60 cents on the dollar to anyone that will hear your spam was really smart.
It is really these kind of fools they are paying 200% above what an end user will pay for a domain in the aftermarket that are suffering, and will continue to do so.
Agree with #4
In each of the past 3 years, my sales have been increasing, closing larger sales, and getting more offers.

Thank you Adam.
There were all main points told in compact form that are obvious for many investors based on this year results.
Main One I woud like to focus next year is #1.
Happy New year! And best wishes to domain investors in changing internet Space…

Its funny as Dicker said on his site tthat .co is a good extension.
Now I see his different opinion, of course I am not surprised as I know what kind of person he is.

I have never supported .co that I remember but anything is possible. Post under your real name.

Yes, and made under $10 on them all so I dropped them all after the first year. Lesson Learnt,

Elliott:
Thanks for posting Adam’s 2013 predictions. This is right on!
I’ve focused the past three months (since the T.R.A.F.F.I.C. convention) on not just being a domainer, but building out sites and creating lead generation and other meaningful businesses.
I’m now poised for a great 2013 kick-start from many of the ideas I learned from Adam and the T.R.A.F.F.I.C. convention (which is where I met Adam)
Best wishes for a happy holiday to all.

Adam,
Leadgen has always done better than parking. Domainers have just been too lazy to go after it.

Adam Dicker
That’s very true, but in 2013 they will have no choice.

Actually, I also remember that Adam was saying great things about .co.

Could have released these same points in 2010 and 2011 and still have been right on. Don’t tell Mike Mann about the end of the pissing contest though. He’s been drinking a lot of water preparing

Why parking companies do not collect/work with real niche leads when they really have this opportunity in huge list of any niche names?
I think 2013 will popup with several companies that will deploy such lead collectors in public on niche preselected domain name diamonds…

Good predictions.
Disagree on 2 sorta.
If i compare from 2009 and nowdays it improved alot.
Seems Frank S woke the rest up to cough up more.
Disagree on 5.
The average joe aka joe sixpack has no clue atm anyways.
Any new gTLD that can leave a mark and attracts customers that actually use the gTLD is more viable then .co and has a stronger domain market. For the record i do not see any gTLD offer that, but time will tell.
For the rest yeah i agree.

Point #3
I remember you doing a video on cord banks, and how you said you went out and spent thousands upon thousands in securing .com .ca geo cord bank domains, a week later, I saw cordbank.com sell on sedo for $5K?
Now cordbank.com sits parked with a for sale lander, so wouldn’t it have been wise to just purchase the 1 domain, rather than have thousands of dollars in renewals, rather than just one?
December 31st, 2012 at 2:29 pm
Adam Dicker
I own almost the all the state cord banks and I prefer them targeted by state, also I never saw cordnak.com for sale. I may pursue it. Thanks for the tip!

Points 1) and 3) hit home in Adam’s post.
I definitely plan to thin out my domain portfolio dramatically and build more business-orientated sites – have already started with http;//www.BoatSearchEngine.com
