Another market that has emerged is the Italian market. If you have a look at http://cityadv.it you'll see a great company that has snatched up many quality .it domains and has monitized them in a very lucrative way.

I primarily work in a french market and was able to snatch up - even coming in late in the game - some quality domain names that the english market domain industry had already been taken a long time ago.

@Elliot

Maybe his spanish names were not that great.

In domaining and any other busines this statement below holds true below.

"It's not what was, it's not even what is, but it's will be"

It's all about growth and trends. For example, take a look at Wordtracker.com top 500 search keywords each week. One year ago, I don't think any spanish keywords made the top 500 most searched words on the internet. Today, you see many.

The spanish market will kick the english market "ass" both online and offline. Many top domainers know this and probably don't like it that I keep talking about it but it's the truth.

It's all about growth and trends and that is whether the spanish market is blowing away the english market.

There is a spanish domain forum called Demene.com and I will tell you those people get it. Many $XXX,XXX
NDA sales taking place.

The spanish translator are OK, but can't be trusted 100%. Therefore, for anybody entering you need to have somebody who speaks the language verify the translation.

                              Thanks,  Jim

@ Jim

I am not close to an expert in that market - and I know very little about it. The one thing I do know is that a guy emailed me in 2006 with a bunch of Spanish names (.com names) and said he is waiting for a big Spanish speaking company (or something like that) to buy them all from him. I just checked and they are still registered to him :)

I don't know if people I've worked with are involved in non-English domain names for the most part, so this could be skewed. You are also one of the first people to tell me that it's blowing away the English market. Even if that's so, if someone like myself who barely speaks a little Spanish comes into the market, I would have no idea whether I was buying great names or crap :)
