Super Bowl .CO Go Daddy Girl Revealed

I just read an article in USA Today discussing Go Daddy’s Super Bowl commercials, and I believe it revealed the name of the new GoDaddy girl that will be starring in the .CO-specific commerical. It’s not Joan Rivers.

Although the article does not mention the model’s name, the caption has revealed what was once a guarded secret. The caption reads, “Danica Patrick, left, and Jillian Michaels paint Colombian model Natalia Velez in a Super Bowl commercial being shot at GoDaddy.com’s offices in Scottsdale, Ariz.”

According to a variety of sources online, Natalia Velez is a professional model from Medellín, Colombia, and she was born in 1985. You can watch the video embedded above to see more shots of Ms. Velez, and you can watch the video below to learn more about Godaddy, its Super Bowl advertising strategy and see some shots from the commercial filming.

It’s a far cry from last year’s commercial with Joan Rivers.

There’s a Natalia Velez in porn — did a pantyhose fetish DVD for a firm called JB Video — but I think it might be a different person.

I just hope they are not going to just use her as a body double again and keep Joan Rivers head.
I like Joan but she does not fit the mould for domain names in general.

Just my opinion.

If young guys knew how much South America has to offer in the way of beautiful women, they’d skip all of Central America for their trips.

I took many month-plus trips to Central America in my 20′s. Even though those trips were great, and women can be beautiful there also, if I had to do it over again as a single man I’d go to Venezuela, Colombia, and Brazil for the women.

It’s just over the top how beautiful they are. Most American’s just have no fickin’ idea what they are missing down there. :)

Is their marketing department mentally challenged or are they just trolling everyone? Their commercials make me want to go look at porn, not purchase a domain name and/or related website services.

Imagine if they had a normal commercial, with a businessperson/entrepreneur, telling their story about how they set up shop using GoDaddy’s services and now run a successful online business. Wouldn’t that be crazy !

@ M

It wouldn’t get nearly as much attention. Bob Parsons didn’t become a billionaire by being stupid. Whether you agree with his taste in marketing or not, you have to admit these types of commercials draw a lot more attention than others. Even if people don’t register a domain name during the game, they remember that GoDaddy is the place to buy domain names.

There they go again; plopping someone’s head on Joan Rivers body.

Doh!

Then again, since it’s Bob’s GoDaddy, wouldn’t a dead elephant’s head on some other animal’s body be more appropriate?

@ best

Moral standards of who? You? Why must people believe must be held to their personal morals? I happen to like attractive women and have no issues with attractive women being used in advertising.

@ Elliot

Bob Parsons and GoDaddy become the biggest domain company because they’re the 2nd oldest, and the first to come out with “Amazon style” affiliate banners back in the 90′s.

They also brilliantly created an upsell buying process, for even one domain, that convinced a lot of uneducated buyers, noobies basically, to buy into their other upsell products. They were positioned at the right time, and the outrageous Bob Parson ads gathered enough attention to bring in the buyers. This is why GoDaddy rarely presents itself at any domain conferences.

They don’t need us, and surely don’t want to reveal “secrets” (cough — as if experienced ecommerce builders don’t see his path).

However, the most disturbing part of GoDaddy is the diminishment of successful women in sports relegated mostly to men. Danica Patrick, I feel bad for her other than the money she pockets for selling out. A talented race driver, she’s been relegated to being a “sex object”, for money of course.

I don’t have anything against seeing sexy women. Love them. But when I see a woman who has achieved a status that competes with men on an equal level, and then is so worried about her future financial “value”, transfers her image to young women as a capable woman who can achieve recognition in a male dominated world, she allows her image to be diminished to a simple sex object.

By accepting the parameters required for her to be a sportswoman sponsored by GoDaddy, she set back the women’s rights movement back a few years, but who notices the intricacies of how money can turn a talented woman into a simple sex model with the “oddity” that she can beat you racing a car.

Bob Parsons dangled the carrot, and our society influenced Danica to accept the carrot, even at the danger of crushing her image as a strong woman who earned respect at a different level than posing.

Hey I could be wrong. Maybe all women want this type of treatment

What does anyone think about this? It bothers me that this “conversion” of “successful woman in a man’s world” to being “a paid sex image required to play Bob Parson’s ad game”.

@ Stephen

I appreciate your insight. I think this issue is one that could be discussed forever and a day, but likely won’t ever change because it makes Godaddy money – a lot of it.
