Domain Name Questions

Extensive GeoDomain Resource

I am in the process of writing a pretty extensive post about buying, developing, and monetizing my geodomain names, since it’s all fresh on my mind once again as I build Newburyport.com. Since it’s fairly comprehensive and will be time consuming to read, I would like to know how my readers would like to see this. Here are the choices:

1) One huge and extensive blog post
2) Three or four medium to large posts covering separate topics such as buying, researching, developing, monetizing…etc
3) eBook with all posts in chapters all in one report posted on my blog
4) eBook given out at the GeoDomain Expo

I prefer not to do #3 because I might feel pressured to write content just so it looks more bookish, and I don’t want to waste your time or my time with fluff. However, I don’t think it’s as effective if people read one post one day and the second part two weeks later – or start with part two.

Anyhow, I am open to suggestions as I have been putting my thoughts together to help aspiring geodomain buyers and developers. I’ve learned a lot (still learning) and happy to help give advice based on what I’ve learned

#2 breaks it up and brings people back to your site.

#3 if you want it to be a useful tool.

I think #2 is a great idea, it breaks up the content (so you can have itemized discussions on topics), as well as brings more people back to your site. You could then have some sort of callout to group all the posts together.

I like #3, but you could start with the #2 option. Then when the series is complete, bundle it into a .pdf for a single download.

Think of it as a whitepaper or ‘Special Report’ instead of an eBook, then you won’t worry about the length :)

I think #2 would be your best option,

Gets you more visitors, more exposure for your blog, and we all get to read it without getting the ebook,

better in the public eye IMHO.

whatever you do i’ll be looking out for it, to have a nice read.

Good luck.

@Paul – it won’t be about selling – just about buying, building, and making money.

Anxiously awaiting your piece on GeoDomains…

They are a passion of mine as well…

I’ve slowly over the decade ++ acquired more
than 200+ Geo Specifics and need to get them
developed… or sold…

2009 will be a busy – FUN – exciting Year for my Development plans…

Wishing all of you with similar interest – MUCH success…

I vote for #2. Also, you may find it helpful to try out our new geo domain finding tool at DomainSuperstar.com.

The tool is a Google Maps mashup that lets you input a city, state, zip code, etc and then optionally a tld and a keyword or keyword phrase to append or prepend the different geographic locations and then the tool automatically finds cities near the location that you specify and checks to see if there are domain names that match exactly to those cities and keyword phrases that are available.

For example, if you wanted to find mortgage domains in Florida ending in .net then you could enter in Florida, mortgage and the tld .net and the tool would automatically search for the availability of TampaMortgage.net, OrlandoMortgage.net, TallahasseeMortgage.net, etc. etc. etc.

My vote goes to #2.

A couple good posts and that’s it.

I’m still bitting my nails waiting for the second part of the Geodomain series of Too Many Secrets… :(

Perhaps it would be a great idea if you two arrange the release of both posts together.

All best,
Will
