Get More Updates on Facebook: Edit News Feed Options

Facebook.I wanted to share something that I just learned about Facebook news feeds. I was wondering why there are certain friends whose posts and updates I never see, despite knowing that they do update their Facebook pages every so often. I hadn’t really paid much attention to the news feed options, but when I missed an important update from a friend, I  decided to look into it.

Apparently, Facebook chooses the friends whose posts you read in your news feed rather than showing all of your friends’ comments and updates. Since this is done by algorithm, it’s not really an exact science, and many of your friends’ news won’t show up on your page.

In order to allow all of your friends’ news and updates to show up, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on “Edit Options.” On this page, you’re given a list of people to block (everyone has friends who either have auto-posts or who constantly post game scores that you want to ignore.

To the left of this list is something that says: “Control how many friends you want shown in Live Feed. A higher number means you will see new posts more frequently.”  If you enter a very high number or the number of friends you have, everyone’s news updates will show up, with the exception of the people you block.

Now you’ll never miss an important update.

Some people on FB post hourly. They turn it into their daily diary or self promoting spam site. Most of the posts are ridiculous. Once you get to about 500 friends you have to hide a lot of them or you’ll be spending way too much time trying to keep up with the huge never ending volume of posts each day.

@ Kevin

Agree… I manually block the people who post too much or have annoying posts. I just don’t like it when Facebook blocks people they think I want blocked.
