I personally don’t get the value of owning these names besides pure vanity. I mean really, what kind of business can you develop around doug.com. Much better ways to put this money to use. IMHO. I bought Eliana.com some years ago, only because it is my young daughters name. No real way to monetize it though. I thought it would be cool for her to have some day.

Vanity is worth alot of $$; it only takes two rich guys named Doug that want the .com of their name to drive the price through the roof…..there are lots of people named Doug out there……
Agree on the monetization aspect…..tough…..got to sell to an end user, errrrr, got to sell to a Doug…..not a domain name flipper.
This is all ignoring for a moment the # of existing businesses out there starting their name with Doug…..that want a simple web address instead of a 2 or 3 worder.
Just my opinion.

Well, if you offered $27,500 and were turned down (2nd poster) then I was wrong about that. I like first names a lot…they are tough to acquire. I have bought and sold a few. I believe that the most common first names in the world will go up a ton in value over time.

Now you kids need to play nice with this one - haven’t you ever heard the expression ‘beauty is in the eye of the beholder’?!
Besides, it’s just bad form to piss on somebody else’s sale!
