Salon.com Grabs TuckerCarlson.net After Carlson Let it Expire
The news circling the political pundit websites today is that The Daily Caller, a website founded by Tucker Carlson, purchased KeithOlbermann.com. On the new website, there’s a bold headline, “WE OWN YOU The Daily Caller acquires KeithOlbermann.com.”
Later, it was Andrew Allemann who pointed out that Tucker Carlson had to go the UDRP route to get his domain name, TuckerCarlson.com. Carlson filed a UDRP and was awarded his domain name in June of 2008.
Now Salon.com has gotten in on the action. In reporting today’s news bits and mentioning Andrew’s article, the website poked fun at Carlson for being cheap and not spending a “couple bucks to nail down TuckerCarlson.net.” Salon.com wrote that it purchased TuckerCarlson.net at Godaddy, although they are using a privacy protection service.
The irony of the whole thing is that the current registrant of TuckerCarlson.com (presumably a company associated with Carlson because he won the UDRP for it) was the previous registrant of TuckerCarlson.net, and they let TuckerCarlson.net expire in November of 2009. The fun continues.

I can’t stand when men wear bow ties like Tucker Carlson does, or at least used to…..I’ve not watched him in years.
Why is that it bugs me so much?

Does he still wear bow ties since Jon Stewart tore him apart about it a few years ago?

Politically, I’m a bit left of center. So Tucker is much more conservative than I am. But Tucker Carlson is as good a political interviewer as any I have seen in cable news. I have been so disappointed that his star has really fallen and that he is off the radar screen. I thought he did a great job on The Tucker Carlson show. He would ask good questions, whether the guest was liberal, conservative, or moderate. And he was always reasonable, so you wouldn’t see the crazy whacked out things that you see on the nutty leftwing shows or the nutty rightwing shows.

to clarify, I’m basically apolitical. I really only know of Tucker through that infamous crossfire episode, and by the look of it, he was a tool (for the establishment) as Stewart unequivocally put it.

It doesn’t seem so odd to me they let the .net expire after successfully obtaining the .com via UDRP. Sure it’s just a few bucks but once you have the .com it’s not really that necessary.
@Mike – I liked Jon Stewart before that, but he really became a hero after the crossfire slap-down. The show itself only lasted a few more episodes if I recall correctly. Ironic considering the show was called Crossfire and was known for verbal sparring.

I used to watch “CROSSFIRE” on CNN, but the pundits wouldn’t ever complete a logical premise without being interrupted. It was a yell fest, and disappointing.
That one old dude.. I think he’s dead now… forgot his name… dang was he an evil ol’ cuss!
Anyway, the comment about Carlson’s big website headline after buying KeithOlbermann.com “WE OWN YOU” is the foundation of my company’s continuing attempt to teach businesses that domain names will “OWN YOUR COMPETITION™”
It’s in my email signatures and on my website. I created the phrase, and TMed it… and it is the strongest argument to sell domains to endusers.
“OWN YOUR COMPETITION™”
Get the domain name of the prodservs of your competition, in the .com extension, and you “own your competition.”
Isn’t it sick I have to promote my own sh*t, even when it’s fact?
