Elliot just curious, will the operators of these TLDs (or rather registries) be barred from actually running the TLD as a terminating domain?
In other words, http://mike vs. http://website.mike

I don’t believe they will be able to operate without the dot. I suppose that could change though.

That would never because it would conflict with every person who owned any extension.

@Elliot – the way dns works and is programmed it can’t work. Not to mention it would break a slew of programs expecting to see a . and a TLD of some type.
Of course a browser manufacturer (or an ISP) could on an individual basis convert http://mike to http://mike.anything or http://www.mike.com

The average joe is already awash in the sea of gTLDs, let alone the current polluted release and thinly veiled money grab.
And will simply return to the safe haven of .com when surfing the web.
